Diocese of Lansing Catholic Schools prepare to compete under Friday Night Lights

A new athletic field, bleachers and track were installed this summer at Lansing Catholic High School.

Lansing Catholic High School has installed a new synthetic-turf athletic field this summer, as the first phase of a planned $5 million renovation of the school’s athletic facilities. This new lighted stadium will truly bring Cougar sports "home" into one, on-campus multi-purpose modern athletic facility.

In addition to the field which will host home football games, soccer and lacrosse teams, there is also a new eight-lane track, and bleachers seating 1,000 home-side seats. The stadium overall will be able to hold 1500 people on the home side and 700 on the visitors side.

The season opens at home for the Cougars, Friday night, August 26 against Waverly.

New stadium lighting coming to Jackson Lumen Christi this fall.

Jackson Lumen Christi Catholic School will also be ready to host more home games at night this season, with new stadium lighting donated by Hillsdale-based Qualite Sports lighting, led by Lumen Christi graduate and owner Eric Boorom. The lighting is an additional improvement to the field where artificial turf was added as part of a $1.1 million renovation three years ago.

The season opens for the Titans on Thursday, Aug. 25 against Grand Rapids West Catholic.
