Letter from Principal
In a world where children’s individual needs often are lost in the shuffle of numbers and funding, St. Mary School in Mt. Morris offers a refreshing opportunity for children to feel the grace of God in their daily educational journeys. As a Catholic school, we believe it is our job to not only offer excellent academics, but to partner with parents to help each child develop spiritually, academically and socially to meet the challenges of the contemporary world.
In this safe and nurturing place, our students learn, grow and excel at their own pace. Much of the credit for this goes to our amazing teachers. All highly qualified and certified, they often go above and beyond in their commitment to each student. The love we have for Christ comes through in the way we treat each other, our focus on family, and our desire to be excellent in all of our endeavors to glorify him.
As the oldest Catholic school in Genesee County, we welcome students of all faiths and backgrounds to experience the excellent academic opportunities that will help them exceed far beyond eighth grade.
If you are looking for a cost-effective school where your child will be treasured and receive an excellent education in a family-friendly environment, contact us today.
At St. Mary Catholic School, we live, love and learn every day in our faith, academics and friendships as disciples of Christ.
St. Mary Catholic School is an integral part of the teaching ministry of the Catholic Church. Through a faith-centered education, we recognize the uniqueness of individuals and prepare them spiritually, academically and socially to meet the challenges of the contemporary world.
We take pride in a learning environment that nurtures the individual and specific needs of each child. Our highly qualified teachers work to implement research-based instructional methods that help all students to excel. When students leave St. Mary, they are fully prepared to excel in high school.
In addition to our core curriculum of religion, math, reading, writing, science and social studies, we offer music and/or beginning advanced band, art, physical education, Spanish, and computer technology for all students in kindergarten through 8th grade.
STEAM enrichment classes begin in Kindergarten and advanced classes are available for grades 4-8. Also, academic intervention is fully implemented for students with demonstrated need.
Along with excellent class offerings, our students have the opportunity to use iPads and other technology to blend new technology with traditional teaching methods.
In addition to attending religion classes at each grade level, students at St. Mary Catholic School are taught that faith and prayer can be integrated into every aspect of their lives. Students learn about God through daily prayer with their teachers and classmates, weekly school Masses, monthly eucharistic adoration, and many opportunities for Christian service including volunteering for and supporting local soup kitchens and other organizations that serve people in need.
From fieldtrips to football, extracurricular and enrichment activities help our students learn about teamwork and hard work both inside and outside of the classroom. Our close partnership between St. Mary’s staff and parents enables us to provide engaging programs including student council, student of the month luncheons, talent shows, an art show, spelling bees, pep rallies, fieldtrips and so much more. In addition, students in fifth through eighth grade can participate in football, basketball, cheerleading, volleyball, softball and baseball.
If you are interested in sending your child to St. Mary, but are concerned about the cost, come talk to us. Scholarships, family discounts, bingo fundraising, the SCRIP program and other options are available to help make it possible.
